PRESS RELEASE

Mount Kilimanjaro fundraising trek for children’s hospice

Key points :

  • State Securities’ Sales Manager to undertake a nine day trek up Mount Kilmanjaro
  • Children’s Hospice to benefit from sponsorship

Monday, March 26, 2007: In July 2007, State Securities’ Senior Sales Manager for the North West, Jason Townson, will be undertaking a demanding nine day expedition up Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, to raise money for Brian House Children’s Hospice.

The Children’s Hospice provides care and a ‘home from home’ for children and young adults with life threatening and/or life limiting conditions from within the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre areas. They and their families have multiple, complex needs and Brian House provides vital support for the families and care for these young people. Respite care, provided at regular intervals, gives these families the opportunity to experience times of relief and normality. Each year the Hospice has to raise around £1million from voluntary donations to maintain the services it can offer.

Jason’s exhilarating trek will follow the Rongai route, approaching from the north and passing through untouched wilderness, farmland and forest, past Alpine moorland to the mountain’s summit, with magnificent views throughout. The final ascent is arduous and made in darkness, but the reward will be a spectacular dawn view of the glaciers and ice cliffs of the summit, and across the East African plains far below.

Jason is hoping to raise over £4,000 for the charity. Potential sponsors should contact Jo Macklin, t 01489 775646 / email jmacklin@statesecurities.plc.uk
