State Securities Sales Director completes challenging trek in Tanzania for charity

 Key points:

  • State Securities Sales Director, Andrew Bullard, follows in steps of Maasai

  • Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Association to benefit from £4500 raised

Thursday, September 14, 2006: The Sales Director at a leading asset finance company, Andrew Bullard, has successfully completed a 10 day trip to Kenya and Tanzania, trekking across the Great African Rift Valley to raise vital funds for the MND Association (registered charity no. 294354). Motor Neuron Disease is a fatal disease that attacks the nervous system.

The trek proved to be a demanding one for the 17-strong group.  It involved 6 days of trekking up to 20 miles per day in searing temperatures of 40º C heat. Walking started at 6.30am and finished around 4pm with a lunch break at midday with the night spent under canvas.

Andrew Bullard said, “The trek started in the foothills of the 8,500 ft tall Mount Longdio from where, led by Maasai guides, we passed through villages and followed rugged trails used by the Maasai tribesman and their herds of cattle and goats. The wildlife and scenery was breathtaking. During the day we encountered various wildlife including zebra, giraffe's, hyena, snakes and gazelles along with a multitude of birds, all in their natural habitat. The fantastic experience was capped with a visit to the 8th Natural Wonder of the World, the ‘Ngorongoro crater’ on the last day where we saw hippos, elephants, lions and flamingo's to name but a few.”

Andrew traveled with ‘Charity Challenge’ who organize numerous worldwide activities for charity. He has raised £4,500 for the MND association through sponsorship and is now busy planning next year’s trip !

Andrew is still accepting sponsorship so please contact him on telephone 01489 775618.
