State Securities Sponsors ‘Round the Island’ Yacht and Race Team

Thursday, 11 May 2006: Business funding solutions provider, State Securities, are proud to be sponsoring John Harding, Senior Account Manager, and a crew of nine in the ‘Round the Island’ Race, one of the most popular fixtures on the Solent racing calendar, on Saturday 3rd June 2006.

The yacht, Firestarter, is a 36 foot Bavaria Match and is owned by Keith Lovett, a Director of Coleman Insurance based in Poole. State Securities will sponsor the entry fee to the race, crew shirts, boat graphics and the overall event management. The yacht will be renamed ‘State Securities’ for the occasion.

John has been sailing for seven years and has competed in the prestigious ‘Antigua Race Week’, night races to France and Channel Island races as well as sailing locally out of Poole along the South coast. It will be John’s third ‘Round the Island’ Race and this year he is hoping to finish in the top 100. Over 1600 competitors come from the UK, Europe and USA to follow the challenging 50-mile course round the Isle of Wight which starts from the famous Royal Squadron line in Cowes.

John commented “I’m thrilled to be crewing on ‘State Securities’. Racing is very competitive and the entire crew must work together as a team. We’ve been training hard and, dependant on the conditions, we’re hopeful that ‘State Securities’ and her crew can complete the course in 8 or 9 hours.”
